Problem of Unvalidated Home Blood Pressure Devices

Problem of Unvalidated Home Blood Pressure Devices

Hypertension Canada is hosting a webinar, May 8th, 2023, on The Problem of Unvalidated Home Blood Pressure Devices: Implications for Public Health and Practice.

Dr. Dean Picone will present his research on the overwhelming number of non-validated home blood pressure devices that are available for sale online.

This is an important issue for both pharmacists and device manufacturers, as people living with hypertension depend on these devices in order to get an accurate reading of their blood pressure.

If a non-validated device is used for this purpose, then there is a higher chance that the person using the device will be given an inaccurate reading, which could be a health risk.

Following Dr. Picone’s presentation, Dr. Swapnil Hiremath will comment on the clinical and public health implications of non-validated blood pressure devices.

The webinar will end with Jonathan Chan adding his insights about prevalence of non-validated devices both in pharmacies and online.
